Genre: Realistic Fiction/School Story
Summary: Cam is a world class, number one slacker. He has spent the last 13 years of his life pouring himself into his chosen lifestyle: videogaming. So when he almost burns down his house (long story) and his parents threaten to take away his game console--his love, his life, his limbs--he needs to think of something, fast. Then he comes up with the most brilliant idea of all time: he could become the president of a club. That'll get his parents off his back. And no worries, his club doesn't have to do anything; it'll be fake. He could just spend his time playing games like he always has. What he didn't expect was to catch the attention of that girl with a beaver mission, or that meddling counselor, or that football player, or that kid who was going to be thrown into juvenile detention, or that crazy high schooler who will do all she can to put his (fake) club into the ground...pretty soon, he finds that things aren't turning out the way he expected, and maybe his greatest idea yet might turn into something he never thought possible. Other: This is classic Gordon Korman--funny and a little bit nuts. I really enjoyed the characters and laughed out loud at a couple parts (even though I was in a store...oops). (Ages 8+) ~Amy |
